In the early 1950's my big brother Paddy left to work in Oran, located in the North West of Algeria. He left by train from Eccleston Park in Lancashire, England. Tom the station master took great pride in maintaining a smart platform and garden. My memory of Paddy leaving was to turn to Mum and say " Who's going to make me laugh now". When he was home the house was full of laughter, fun and music. At the time, I (Judie) would have been about ten and Paddy twenty -six.
